Since 2006, Green Plastic Designs™ has been a trailblazer in transforming recycled plastic into durable, sustainable outdoor solutions—think garden benches, decking, picnic sets, and playground equipment that look like wood, only better! Now, we’re bringing that same innovation and passion to the Western Cape’s stunning Atlantic edge.
Our story began nearly two decades ago in Johannesburg, sparked by the vision of our founder, Leon H. Horn. Leon saw a problem—piles of plastic waste, like bottle caps and labels from polyethylene palletizing, clogging landfills—and turned it into an opportunity. He pioneered a waste recovery model that recycles polypropylene waste, slashing landfill contributions and crafting products that stand the test of time. From that bold idea, Green Plastic Designs™ grew into a trademarked, BBBEE-certified leader, supplying schools, resorts, and companies across South Africa with sustainable alternatives.
Today, Green Plastic Designs Atlantic (Pty) Ltd extends that legacy to the Cape. Based in Cape Town, we’re here to meet the region’s outdoor needs with planks, poles, and furniture built from recycled plastic—perfect for coastal gardens, wine-country decks, or Overberg playgrounds. Our distribution network is expanding, and our sights are set on reaching even more of Africa in the years ahead, all while staying true to Leon’s founding mission: revolutionize plastic waste, create lasting solutions, and leave the planet greener.

We’re committed to reducing landfill contributions by recycling polypropylene waste, conserving precious natural resources like wood and metal, and lowering energy consumption and carbon emissions compared to traditional furniture production. By offering high-quality, cost-effective products—often more affordable than brand-new alternatives—we make eco-friendly living accessible to homes, schools, resorts, and businesses across the Western Cape.
